Ready the corvus
Quick Check
Historical note: Polybius describes the boarding bridge (Greek korax, Latin corvus, "raven") in the First Punic War β about 36 feet long and 4 feet wide, raised against a pole about 24 feet tall. It disappears from later accounts; whether it made ships unstable in storms is a modern theory, still debated. Drawing is schematic, not to scale.
