Andy and Cleopatra

Notes

In 1964 Andy Griffith told the story of Cleopatra his own way — the same down-home storyteller style he used in “What It Was, Was Football.” He was riffing on the 1963 epic starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison, the highest-grossing film of that year.

Ask your class: what does Andy get right about Cleopatra, Caesar and Mark Antony — and what does he get gloriously wrong?
